Pneumococcal Vaccination is indicated for adults above 65 years old, especially if you have chronic medical conditions eg. asthma, diabetes and heart conditions. Its a little confusing.... For Singaporeans, there is now significant subsidies from MOH to do the PCV13 and PPSV23 if you are above 65 years old. Depending on the age group you belong to and which status of "CHAS" there will be different tiers of subsidy. For example, Pioneer Generation will receive more subsidy than the Merdeka Generation. The first dose is Prevenar 13 (PCV13) and then this is followed 1 year later with Pneumovax 23 (PPSV23). If you opt for the Newer Single Dose Vaccine - PCV20, then only 1 shot needs to be done. There is no need for a 2-step process. The PCV20 has been approved to be used above 18 years old. Talk to us today about getting yourself protected.
